10 Times WWE's Sasha Banks Was The Best Wrestler In The World
2. Her Reign As NXT Women’s Champion
While Paige and Charlotte had decent reigns with the NXT women's championship, the revolution that was being brought to WWE's women was just beginning. The main roster was still undervaluing their female talent every week and the focus in NXT was still largely on the stories for the men. Despite significant progress, they'd yet to have a champion that could truly push the needle forward for the treatment of the championship and have genuine stories with other women.
Sasha Banks was exactly what the title and the company needed. She had a distinctive character that gave the belt a champion with an unforgettable personality, she was a naturally gifted heel who could generate genuine heat and she was absurdly good inside the squared circle. Her match with Becky Lynch at TakeOver Unstoppable is a minor classic, getting over herself as a cruel antagonist while showing the world just how tremendous women's wrestling is.
By the time she lost the belt, the title felt like the symbol of the future it was always supposed to be. Sasha deserves so much credit for how much commitment and greatness she brought to that role. The impact of that reign is still felt today.
