10 Times You Didn't Realise Wrestlers Were Saying 'Goodbye'

9. CM Punk

Obviously, CM Punk has roared back into WWE and plans to put things right. He might've never admitted it at the time, but Punk must've been as sad/p*ssed off/confused as anybody when his first run there came to a bitter end in January 2014. Ever the rebel, Punk marched into Vince McMahon's office and told both he and Triple H he was going home.

24 hours earlier, Punk had worked a tough 49-minute shift in the Royal Rumble match before being tossed out by Kane. The #1 entrant went about his business in typical workmanlike fashion, but he must've known he was close to telling everyone to beat it - the pipebomb prince was not a happy camper.

In many respects, the 2014 Rumble was his own personal bye bye to WWE fans, at least until 2023's spectacular Survivor Series comeback. Here's the kicker: Fans there live in Pittsburgh for the Rumble and those watching it around the world had no clue how close to the brink Punk was.

They'd find out when the internet blew up one night after the PPV.
