10 Times You Thought Wrestlers Were Finished (& Were DEAD WRONG!)

1. Steve Austin

People thought 'Stone Cold' was finished because Austin himself told them he was whenever asked between 2003-2022. The sought after legend was hot on everyone's lips as the comeback they wanted most before it happened. According to Steve, his match vs. The Rock at WrestleMania XIX was his last and that was very much that.

This is when someone cues WWE's production truck to 'roll the footage'.

Austin signed on to work Kevin Owens in a brawl at 'Mania 38, and few could believe it when the promotion started hyping things with a proper match graphic. Technically, Austin was only there to appear on KO's talk show segment, but come on - WWE weren't ending WrestleMania with a skit sans physicality.

The match kicked off, and it was actually pretty solid. Austin looked healthy, and was able to meet a full-timer like Owens halfway for almost 15 minutes before scoring the crowd-pleasing win. 6,943 days had passed since Steve's last match in '03, so it's understandable that few believed this would happen before he and Kev began brawling around Texas.
