How to ruin a perfect feud in three easy steps.

The Undertaker retired Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26, so the Heartbreak Kid hadn't wrestled for nearly a decade. It was refreshing to see HBK stick to his word and refuse to be convinced to have one last match.

Then that too sweet Saudi Arabian cash came calling.

When 'Taker lost to Triple H at Super Show-Down 2018, the Brothers of Destruction took out their frustration on Michaels. As he crashed through the announcer's table, there was a collective gasp across the WWE Universe. Not because of the moment, but due to what might happen next. Were they actually going to make HBK strap on his boots for one more match?

The idea of D-Generation X taking on the Brothers of Destruction was perfect on paper. It'd never happened before so why wouldn't people want to see it? Simple: it was 2019 and the combined age of the four was 206! Fans were concerned; would this epilogue to HBK's career spoil his retirement? In a word: yes.

Past their prime, they slogged through a contest that was a real comedy of errors. Triple H tore his pectoral muscle, Shawn Michaels missed a Moonsault to the outside, and Kane's mask fell off in a truly hilarious moment.

After Kane took the pin, HHH and HBK lay in the corner exhausted. The fans knew how the felt.

It was a big payday at least.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
