10 Times You Were Right To Worry About WWE Feuds

2. Jinder Mahal Vs. Randy Orton

When Jinder Mahal became number one contender to Randy Orton's WWE Championship, fans wanted to know why. WWE was trying to embrace its Indian audience by having a Canadian challenge for the belt...

WWE often uses the months between WrestleMania and SummerSlam as a holding pattern, where they test out wrestlers that otherwise wouldn't be near the top of the card. It was strange that they chose Three Man Band jobber Mahal, but nothing fans hadn't seen before.

Then it happened: Jinder Mahal became the WWE Champion.

WWE loves to show the crowd after shocking moments, but the first person they zoomed in on at Backlash 2017 was laughing. Not the best look for your brand new champion. Surely, Jinder would only reign for a month and then let Orton lead SmackDown again. Not even close.

People took notice, more out of concern for what was going to happen each week. With Brock Lesnar holding the Universal Championship hostage elsewhere, Jinder was the only World title holder on TV every week.

He retained at Money in the Bank, but Mahal-Orton would happen one more time. Everybody's worries about this feud manifested themselves in their final encounter.

It was time for the return of the Punjabi Prison match. Joy! The Modern Day Maharaja left with the gold again, after an assist from everybody's favourite wrestler: The Great Khali.

No matter how hard you try, you just can't hinder Jinder.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
