10 Tiny Details About Wrestling Characters You Never Noticed

9. Goldust's 'Shattered Dreams'

One line of thinking could argue that Goldust's ball-booting 'Shattered Dreams' finish was an allusion to his Hollywood star roots. Maybe, after failing in Tinseltown, Goldie sought refuge in pro wrestling and aimed to blow off some steam. Or, perhaps he was shattering the dreams of anyone who hoped to have children.

It's up for debate, but here's another theory.

At the time, Dustin Rhodes wasn't exactly friendly with his father Dusty. In fact, their relationship had fractured to the point they weren't speaking, and so the 'American Dream' found out about his boy's new gimmick second hand. Could it be that 'Shattered Dreams' was a personal commentary on this broken bond between father and son?

Looking closely at the Rhodes family reveals more of this sort of thing. Cody's recent 'American Nightmare' nickname was a reversal of his dad's 'Dream' moniker. One could drive themselves mad going in-depth on this not-so-private lore.
