Years before he almost got engulfed in flames at the 2010 Elimination Chamber PPV, The Undertaker found himself in a similar scenario when a pyro botch almost charred his face.

On the 13 July 1998 episode of Raw, The Undertaker made his way out to the ring for a match against Vader. As The Deadman walked down to the ring, stood at the corner near the turnbuckle, and raised his arm, only the lights were supposed to come back on, and the pyro should've gone off near the stage. But the pyro-technician inadvertently activated Kane's pyro instead, causing a jet of fire to hit The Undertaker right on his face.

The Undertaker, who is well known for protecting his gimmick at all costs, didn't let that shake him up and entered the ring without breaking character. Even Shawn Michaels, who made a surprise return to WWE, was sitting at the commentary table that night and showed a brief moment of concern. Fortunately, The Deadman didn't sustain any serious injuries and continued with the match, and defeated Vader in a quick 4-minute contest.
