The Royal Rumble PPV would mark the beginning of the road to WrestleMania, and the winners of the men's and women's Royal Rumble matches earn a world championship opportunity at WrestleMania. They also earn the right to stand tall and point towards the big WrestleMania sign with the pyrotechnics going off.

Randy Orton did the same when he outlasted 29 other wrestlers to win the 2009 Royal Rumble match. He used his Legacy proteges Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase to his advantage throughout the contest and became the last man standing in the ring after eliminating Triple H.

Following his victory, he tried to celebrate by pointing at the WrestleMania sign and waiting for the fireworks to start. He stood still for a few seconds before realizing something was off. He tried again after coming to the center of the ring and pointed at the sign, but the pyro still didn't go off.

He got antsy with referee Charles Robinson, who had to yell at him to get on the top turnbuckle and point at the sign again. Orton climbed up the turnbuckle and pointed even harder, and the pyrotechnics finally went off.
