10 Totally Random WWE Royal Rumble Entants

2. Dick Murdoch

Dick Murdoch is one of the most accomplished tag team wrestlers ever. Beginning his career in 1965, Murdoch grew up around wrestling as he was childhood friends with the Funks and his father Frankie Hill Murdoch was a wrestler in Texas. Dick Murdoch would go on to win tag team titles across the majority of the NWA territories, the WWE and even defeated Carlos Colon sr for the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship. His partners over the years were the Junkyard Dog, Ted Dibiase, Bobby Duncum, Adrian Adonis and perhaps most famously, Dusty Rhodes as the 'Texas Outlaws'. Murdoch has also appeared in 4 movies, including 1974's cult favourite (well amongst wrestling fans) 'The Wrestler'. When Dick Murdoch appeared in the 1995 Royal Rumble he had not appeared in a WWE ring in over 11 years. He entered a spot #27 lasting 5 minutes and 8 seconds before eliminated by pig farmer Henry Godwinn. This fairly unassuming appearance by Murdoch was his last in a major wrestling promotion, he would die of a heart attack a year later on June 15, 1996, he was 49 years old. As decorated a tag team wrestler Dick Murdoch was at his best. Despite his allegedly controversial personal views Murdoch was very over with fans in the southern United States because of his relate able 'redneck' persona. In fact, the WWE paid homage to him by giving wrestler Trevor Mueller the name Trevor Murdoch. Dick Murdoch's Royal Rumble appearance came 12 years after his last appearance in the WWE, making his entrance both shocking and forgettable.
