1. Dan Severn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWlrAjM9V-Y Dan 'The Beast' Severn is an accomplished athlete with a very decorated career, however most of that career did not take place in the squared circle. Severn was an All American in wrestling at Arizona State University and was an alternate on three United States Men's Olympic Wrestling teams. Additionally, he compiled a very impressive 101-19-7 MMA record, was the UFC's first champion and is the only winner of the UFC triple crown. While 'The Beast' would never approach these heights in the world of professional wrestling he would have some success defeating Chris Candido for the NWA Championship in 1995. 'The Beast' was brought into the WWE in 1998 to feud with his former MMA rival and successful WWE Superstar Ken Shamrock. In 1999 Severn would enter the Royal Rumble match with the #8 seed lasting only 5 minutes and 43 seconds before being tossed out by Mabel. Unfortunately, this poor performance became indicative of how Severn's career would play out in the WWE. The highlight of Severn's 'run' in the WWE was likely losing to the Rock in the semi finals of the King of the Ring tournament after defeating Owen Hart and D'Lo Brown to get there. He withdrew from WWE's attempt at MMA (the much maligned 'Brawl for All') and would continue his wrestling career by winning and defending the NWA championship as it transitioned to TNA. All in all, Severn's professional wrestling career mirrored his only Royal Rumble appearance in that it was short, uneventful and disappointing.
