10 Totally Random WWE Royal Rumble Entants

6. Shane Douglas

'The Franchise' Shane Douglas has had a long, successful wrestling career, with the vast majority of it occurring outside the WWE. Douglas is a 4 time ECW Champion, a two time WCW tag team champion (with Buff Bagwell and Ricky Steamboat), and a WCW US heavyweight champion. Additionally, he has been a successful promoter for XPW and even appeared in the film Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies. Most importantly, Shane Douglas served as the catalyst of the birth of ECW as Extreme Championship Wrestling giving the famous promo declaring a 'new era of professional wrestling' as upon us. Fresh off a run as part of the forgettable tag team the 'Dynamic Dudes', Shane Douglas entered the WWE in late 1990 as a fresh faced youngster whom would team with Marty Jannetty while Shawn Michaels was injured as a temporary part of the Rockers. Douglas made his only Pay Per View appearance at the Royal Rumble 1991, entering at at #17, lasting 26 minutes and 23 seconds, eliminating 0 competitors before being thrown over the top rope by Nasty Boy Brian Knobbs. This appearance was Douglas' last of this run, which is a bit surprising given his long impressive Rumble run, however Douglas was not done for good in the WWE. Douglas would turn up in the WWE again in 1995, roughly a year after championing ECW as the next generation of professional wrestling. He would be given the much maligned Dean Douglas gimmick, the highlight of the run was producing comical vignettes and having an even more comical eleven minute Intercontinental title run. Douglas would go on to have a another successful run in ECW and then WCW, Douglas' contract was not carried over to the WWE when WCW was bought out in 2001. Douglas would go on to wrestle for TNA having memorable encounters with Raven and Christopher Daniels. Douglas will be remembered for many things but not his 1991 Royal Rumble appearance.
