10 Tough Questions WWE Must Ask Itself In 2021
6. How Much Charlotte Flair Is Too Much Charlotte Flair?
WWE's Charlotte Flair obsession was reignited at TLC 2020, when 'The Queen' was nonsensically brought back as Asuka's mystery partner (the duo were feuding when Flair was taken off television in June) against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, leading to the duo capturing the Women's Tag Team Championships. This was likely done to build towards an eventual split and singles match, potentially at WrestleMania, where history tells us Charlotte will score a boring, predictable victory at the expense of a more popular opponent.
No shade on Charlotte herself, who is a fantastic professional wrestler with more presence and star power than the vast majority of the roster. That Vince McMahon has decided his company's entire women's division exists to ultimately put her over isn't her fault. She's great, and should absolutely be at the heart of big storylines throughout the year.
Just not to this extent.
Nobody leaves a Charlotte Flair feud looking stronger than when they came in. Even Rhea Ripley, NXT's indomitable 'Nightmare', was savaged by the booking team after dropping an excellent WrestleMania 36 match. Asuka has been in that spot before, and countless others will reach it in the future.
