The Natural Disasters were one of the largest tag teams of all time. Earthquake and Typhoon weighed in at well over 800 lbs (estimated 846 lbs) and were built to be an unstoppable force in early 1990s WWE. Earthquake was fresh off main eventing SummerSlam 1990 with Hulk Hogan and Typhoon, then called Tugboat, was brought in to be Earthquake's partner after Andre the Giant refused. The Disasters then proceeded to run over the lower tier of the WWE's tag team division at the time, including the bushwackers in an uneventful squash match at SummerSlam 1991. This run was meant to legitimate the team so they could compete in a long program with the Legion of Doom aka The Road Warriors. After an inconclusive feud with LOD, the Disasters would turn face winning the WWE Tag Team Championships from Money Inc. in 1992 before dissolving in early 1993. Much like Doom the Natural Disasters run did not last long but did result in a championship. However, unlike Doom who struggled in the beginning the Natural Disasters came out of the gate strong and were pushed immediately. The two suffered very few clean losses over their tenure and were booked to be on par with the legendary LOD. Additionally, they excelled in squashing opponents and brawling, two important 'tough guy' skills.
