10 Toughest WWE Superstars Of The 21st Century
9. CM Punk
Say what you will about CM Punk, but it takes some serious cojones to jump off the highest peak of the wrestling business to pursue a career in MMA with zero previous experience.
Although Punk lost his UFC debut in embarrassingly one sided fashion, there's no denying that Punk took his loss like a man. Battered, bloodied and bruised, Punk stood at the all you can eat buffet of life, willing to eat as much humble pie as they had. His post-fight interview was classy, humble and steeped in humility.
However, while being tough and being able to fight often go hand-in-hand, they are also two very different attributes. Punk was beaten handily by Mickey Gall and, in hindsight, it was always going to be the likely outcome. For Punk to walk into the Lion's Den knowing he would likely be mauled says a lot about his character and his mental toughness.
Whether you love him for fighting the system or hate him for turning his back on the industry, there’s no denying that CM Punk’s decision to abandon the S.S. McMahon for the shark infested waters of the UFC without a life jacket was a ballsy move. From WWE pipebomb to UFC pipe dream, CM Punk is one tough individual.
