10 UFC Fighters Who Died This Past Decade

4. Josh Samman

Josh Samman was an accomplished mixed martial artist who originally hailed from Des Moines, Iowa.

By 2011, Samman was sporting an impressive 9-2 professional record and decided to join the cast of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen. He would make it all the way to the semi-finals before being defeated by the show's eventual winner, Kelvin Gastelum.

After the Ultimate Fighter, the UFC decided to sign Samman who would end up having a respectable run with the promotion. He won his first three fights in the UFC against Kevin Casey, Eddie Gordon, and Caio Magalhães. In total, Samman had five fights with the organization and went 3-2 over that span, which also included two performance of the night bonuses.

On September 29, 2016, Samman and a colleague were found unresponsive in the UFC fighter's South Florida apartment. On October 5, 2016, Josh Samman was pronounced dead due to what was believed to be a drug overdose.
