10 UFC Fighters Who Had Perfect Performances Inside The Octagon
9. Alan Belcher Vs. Rousimar Palhares - UFC On Fox: Diaz Vs. Miller
Rousimar Palhares might be an unfamiliar name to newer fans of the UFC, but there was a point in time when the Brazilian was arguably the scariest fighter on the entire roster. He wasn't a devastating puncher. He wasn't a devastating puncher like Francis Ngannou or a seemingly unstoppable wrestler like Khabib Nurmagomedov. His game revolved around submissions, specifically leg locks, and he was exceptional at them.
The devastation caused by these leg locks was considerable, and if a fighter didn't tap out quick enough, they'd have their knee shredded to pieces and would be forced to spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines due to injury. While many fighters declined a fight against the submission specialist, talented black belt and fellow middleweight, Alan Belcher, decided that he wanted to find out if he could be the one neutralize Palhares' leg locks.
Enlisting American jiu-jitsu legend and leg lock master, Dean Lister, into his training camp, Belcher slowly but surely came up with a plan that would allow him to completely negate Palhares' most potent moves.
As predicted, Palhares went for a submission within seconds of the fight starting, but Belcher had an answer for everything the Brazilian attempted. Belcher even nearly caught Palhares with a banana split submission in what would've been a huge upset. However, the American found himself in top position, raining down strikes upon Palhares head until the referee was forced to step in and stop the fight.
