10 UFC Fighters Who Injured Themselves To Victory

6. Rich Franklin's Broken Forearm (Vs. Chuck Liddell)

There is only one man who can be credited for being the star who put UFC on the map to begin with and that honour belongs to Chuck 'The Iceman' Liddell. His bouts with Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture and Rampage Jackson will go down in the fabric of the sport as instant classics.

At UFC 115, Liddell found himself coming off the back of a streak of 1-4 which made this fight a definite must win and it's clear that he did all in his power to achieve that.

Liddell looked good and his critical panning by most journalists at the time appeared to be coming to an end, delivering brutal hit after hit to the destabilised Rich Franklin. A counter right, in the last five seconds, from his adversary was a part of the script that must have slipped Liddell's eyes on first reading and caught the fans in attendance as off-guard as it did 'The Iceman'.

With the KO in the bag Franklin nursed his left arm only to reveal in his post-fight breakdown that he broke it while blocking one of Liddell's kicks, making this win the stuff of legend.

Chuck Liddell may have retired in defeat shortly after but if it takes breaking your arm to beat an Iceman, it's not a bad way to be remembered.
