10 UFC Fights That Need To Happen In 2020

5. Gaethje Vs. McGregor

Conor McGregor has made it clear that he'll be returning to the UFC in 2020, but it's still yet to be announced just who Notorious will be fighting upon his return to the Octagon.

If UFC and Justin Gaethje get their way, Conor's return fight will be against The Highlight. Going hard to get the fight, Gaethje has been regularly calling McGregor out for the past couple of months, even going so far as to claim that the Irishman's career is just another Ronda Rousey. As in, his long-awaited return after a defeat will end with another L for McGregor before he rides off into the sunset.

While Conor is talking up a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, McGregor doesn't have the pull to simply stroll into that fight right now. Instead, his UFC return will have to see him earn his way back to a shot at Khabib. And in that case, #4 ranked lightweight Justin Gaethje offers up the perfect proving ground for Conor McGregor.

If McGregor fights and beats Gaethje, that once again has him in the conversation for that Nurmagomedov rematch. Should Conor take the Gaethje fight and lose, that then throws up some serious questions over McGregor's future as a fighter.
