When you think of the WWE title, you think of the salient wings from the fabled Winged Eagle design, of the towering 'W' slapped on the contemporary title, of the rounded globe from the oft-forgotten post-Winged Eagle Attitude Era design, even the gruesome spinning scratch logo from John Cena's customised spinner belt won over a myriad of fans in the end.

You do not, however, pay too much attention to the evanescent Big Green design of the eighties - and for good reason.

In operation between 1978 and 1985 - meaning it adorned the waists of Bob Backlund, Antonio Inoki, The Iron Sheik, and Hulk Hogan - this green glob of grotesqueness was everything a World title shouldn't be. Backed on a sickeningly-green strap, the design concentrated heavily on the past, featuring a nameplate for each former holder. This idea works in theory and is a neat commendation of the antecedent champions, but it quickly loses its purpose when a new holder is crowned. Ten new champions later, not only is the design severely archaic, there's no longer room to add further nameplates for these new champions. The mountainous central globe, too, was deterring, taking up over half of the belt's foreground; a sleek concept, but a littered layout in materialisation.
