One of these men wore an ever-present cap in shows intended entirely for children and reluctant parents, on which a character could not be "seen".

He boasted a limited and repetitive repertoire, to the point of parody, which he flogged over and over again under slightly different guises. He never once felt the need to change, despite the diminished returns that followed his breakthrough blockbuster hit - though he did venture, improbably, into the critically-acclaimed realm of cinema for a time. He used his face as a comedic vehicle with which to gurn and mug to his young fans. He enthusiastically and often literally ran to confront a challenge, even if those challenges caused him farcical misery for several minutes on end.

He often looked directly into the camera, blissfully unaware that those looking on at him found him to be a complete pest. He once fell afoul of authority, but used what was ostensibly serious punishment as an excuse to lark about. He once played about with military iconography without ever truly belonging to the institution. Despite aiming his schtick purely at children, he never produced kids of his own.

The other is Ernest.
