10 Unbelievable WrestleMania Matches That Almost Happened
2. Daniel Bryan Vs. Undertaker - WrestleMania XXX
When The Undertaker was considering opposition in early 2014, it's a little known fact that the Brock Lesnar bout that took place at WrestleMania XXX wasn't always the top choice. In fact, 'Taker himself had apparently lobbied to work with Daniel Bryan at that year's 'Grandaddy of Them All'.
While a Brock match had been in the works for some time, dating back to their bizarre confrontation in the aftermath of UFC 121, question marks loomed in the run up to 'Mania in New Orleans as to whether or not the ageing 'Deadman' could withstand a beating at the hands of 'The Beast'. Sadly, those fears proved well-founded and The Undertaker would inevitably leave 'Mania that year in an ambulance.
Nevertheless, Plan B saw 'The Phenom' squaring off with Daniel Bryan in a continuation of 'Taker's run against proven in-ring workers since 2008. At the top of his game at the time, Bryan would have been the perfect opponent to provide 'The Demon of Death Valley' with the match he deserved at WrestleMania's 30th outing.
Ultimately, CM Punk's departure changed the course of wrestling history. Lesnar squared off with 'Taker as planned and shocked the world when he broke 'The Streak'. Meanwhile, Daniel Bryan went on to win the big one and took his rightful place in WrestleMania history.
