All of the releases on this list are shocking but they pale in comparison to this entry. Yes, worse than firing newly-weds a week after their wedding and worse than firing somebody for pretending to choke someone with a tie on TV. WWE fired Dawn Marie while she was pregnant. Dawn's final appearance for WWE was at One Night Stand, where she managed Lance Storm in his match against Chris Jericho. Many fans online commented that Dawn looked pregnant and that turned out to be true. WWE granted the diva maternity leave but then gave her the sack while she was on it. Dawn was part of the mass firings in 2005 that were necessitated to free up money to hire back Brock Lesnar and, while a lot of the releases were surprising, Dawn Marie's was just downright and unfair. It sent out the wrong message. Dawn was as surprised and incensed as anyone and in January 2006 she filed a complaint against WWE with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, claiming that she had been wrongfully fired as a result of her pregnancy and that she had suffered mental stress because of it. The case was settled in 2007 and Marie has been persona non grata in WWE ever since.
