10 Underhyped Wrestling Matches That Blew Everyone Away

Though nobody in their right mind expected the 187lb Taka Michinoku to steal the WWE Title from Triple H on this episode of Raw is War, the match was booked so convincingly that fans were thoroughly worked into believing that maybe, just maybe, Taka might win after all.

What could've been a joke of a squash match was actually a legitimately competitive fight which squeezed an almost impossible amount of incident into a runtime of barely five minutes.

As much as Trips had a rep for burying everyone in sight with his trusty Golden Shovel at this point in his career, he absolutely bumped his ass off for Taka throughout.

But the icing on the cake was all the peripheral drama, which saw the Acolytes (who Taka brought to ringside for protection), Kai En Tai, and the McMahons all getting involved, not to ignore Earl Hebner standing up to Trips.

For a match nobody knew was happening until the show started and which could've been a garden variety squash, it's telling that fans are still fondly reminiscing over it 20 years later.
