4. The Rock Vs. Ken Shamrock (Raw, November 1998)

This match must surely be one of the best main events in Raw history.

Not only did it have nail-biting drama, thanks to the stipulation that The Rock would lose his opportunity at the WWE Championship unless he emerged from this bout with Shamrock's IC belt.

It also had each and every fan in the crowd cheering in unison, willing The Rock - who was at the foot of his magical ascent to the top of the card in late-1998 - to overcome the odds Vince McMahon had placed in front of him.

The finish - Shamrock retaining by disqualification after the ref caught him using a steel chair - is perhaps the only real complaint you can level at it, but this, at least, made sense in the long run.
