10 Underutilised WWE Stars Who Would Excel In Lucha Underground

A monster, a ballroom dancer, and a showoff all need a change of scenery.

Lucha Underground did the unthinkable last year. No, not killing off characters, or featuring a teleporting dead woman, or giving us a man who transformed into a dragon. No, they turned Ezekiel Jackson into an interesting character.

WWE tried for years with the man. They gave him a big push, teamed him with various partners, and made him the Intercontinental champion, but he was always just "eh" at best. After his release, he joined Lucha Underground, and morphed into Big Ryck, a cigar smoking, one-eyed henchman of Dario Cueto. He showed he had a lot more range than the standard smiling babyface he was playing in WWE. Sadly, his character was then killed in LU by The Disciples of Death. Oh well!

But the lesson with Ryck is that Lucha is simply much more creative than Vince's team, and gets more of their talent over than a bunch of former soap opera writers led by Stephanie McMahon ever could. We've seen it happen with Johnny Mundo, Alberto Del Rio, and the former Justin Gabriel. A trip to The Temple can be great for one's career. Many other wrestlers under WWE contract should take note.

Here are ten underutilized wrestlers who would also excel in Lucha Underground.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
