10 Underutilised WWE Stars Who Would Excel In Lucha Underground

2. Luke Harper

Luke Harper is so incredibly talented in the ring for a big guy, and yet he’s been relegated to playing a background henchman for most of his WWE tenure. The announcers keep comparing him to Bruiser Brody, except that Harper isn’t perceived as anywhere near as dangerous as the legend, because he never wins.

He’s currently out with an injury, but upon his return he’s likely to re-join The Wyatt Family, continuing with what he’s been doing the past few years. He could be worth so much more. In Lucha Underground, Harper would be a fantastic opponent for just about anyone on the roster. We’ve seen the big man work great matches with Dolph Ziggler, and he would look absolutely dominant in The Temple against their roster of mostly smaller talent.

From a character standpoint, Harper doesn’t have much going for him in WWE. He has a decent spot on the card, but we still don't know anything about him. Lucha would give him a backstory, and likely push him in a top role. He could work exciting matches with anyone from The Mack to Mil Muertes, and be booked in a Brody-like way to finally earn those comparisons.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
