"Do I have your attention now?".

Those were the words of CM Punk on the 27 June 2011 Raw as he, sporting a Stone Cold t-shirt, verbally blasted everyone from John Cena and The Rock to Triple H, Stephanie and Vince McMahon live on air. The "Pipe Bomb Promo" didn't happen without WWE permission, obviously, but it was shocking to witness.

Nobody had ever torn down the fourth wall with such vigour ("Hi, Colt Cabana, how you doing?") on company programming, or name-checked promotions like New Japan and ROH. It was a watershed moment, and it helped turn Punk into a main event regular. It was also totally unexpected.

It's one of the most famous example of meta storylines in WWE history. Hearing Punk talk about kissing Vince McMahon's ass and openly vent about his inner frustrations was compelling television, and it made Raw feel must-see for the first time in years.
