10 Unique Ways Wrestlers Celebrated Winning Matches
7. Yokozuna Offers Hulk Hogan A Title Match
Winning a world title in the main event of WrestleMania has to be the crowning achievement of a wrestler’s career. We’ve seen plenty of superstars celebrate this impressive accomplishment with pyro, confetti and fan adulation through the years: Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Steve Austin, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair and several others.
But for Yokozuna, his “crowning achievement” was quickly followed by one of the most embarrassing moments of his career. After toppling Bret “Hitman” Hart for the WWF Championship at WM IX (with a little help from Mr. Fuji), Yoko would be confronted by Hulk Hogan, who protested the use of ceremonial salt.
Rather than waving the Hulkster off, Fuji immediately challenged Hogan to a world title match right then and there, which Hulk won in quick succession, leaving Yokozuna without a title just minutes after winning it.
Poor Yoko. His “celebration” consisted of putting the title up for grabs and immediately losing it.
