10 Unlikely Superstars That Deserve A Place In WWE Hall Of Fame

8. Santino Marella

Summerslam 2002 Earl Hebner Triple H
WWE Network

Always popular and often holding gold, yet it was Santino's comedy act that earns him a spot on the list. Arguably there has never been a better comedic performer in WWE's history. Try to name one. Whether it be 'The Cobra', the 'Honk-a-Mater' or his 1.9-second stay in the 2009 Royal Rumble, Marella always had us laughing. It was the perfect niche for a genuinely tough martial artist.

Perhaps Santino was a victim of being too good at comedy. When he was allowed to go, there was a heck of an in-ring performer there. Never anything less than entertaining, the perennial underdog gained waves of support in his efforts during the 2011 for Royal Rumble and impressive 2012 Elimination Chamber, coming up just short both times. His devastating 'cobra' strike was not to be messed with.

Injury curtailed his career a few years too early, but as the saying goes, ''leave them wanting more, and you know they'll call you back''. Possibly why Santino's rare appearances still garner a strong pop. This entry is more probable than it first appears.
