10 Unlikely Superstars That Deserve A Place In WWE Hall Of Fame
7. Tajiri
'The Japanese Buzzsaw' had a highly decorated run, earning seven championship reigns in his four-year stint. A rising star in Japan, Tajiri arrived in the States to enjoy a highly impressive spell in ECW. Perfecting stiff-kicks and a strong-style, it was in ECW where he emulated his hero The Great Muta by introducing a mystical green mist spray.
Landing in WWE in 2001, Tajiri showed an aptitude for comedy in a delightful pairing with William Regal. Perhaps indicative of the 'funny foreigner' role seriously talented Japanese competitors often played in WWE, it remains a fond introduction. A solid face run during the Invasion saw Tajiri claim a United States Championship before a misogynistic turn on poor Torrie Wilson. Tajiri was a figure of ridicule at times, but his match quality in the cruiserweight division with the likes of Billy Kidman and Jamie Noble still stand up today. A later partnership and feud with Eddie Guerrero was one of his final angles before choosing to head back to Japan and enjoy a more peaceful family life.
Sporadic cameos at ECW One Night Stand and the Cruiserweight Classic brought warm receptions for an underrated performer, capable of making the best from what he was given.
