10 Unrecognised Wrestling Championship Reigns

10. The Rockers - WWE Tag Team Champions

Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels, together as The Rockers, were one of the WWF€™s most exciting teams in the early €˜90s. The perennial fan-favorites had seen their fair share of opponents, even challenging for the World Tag Team Championship on a number of occasions. However, on October 30th of 1990, fans were treated to a bit of a dream match, as The Rockers challenged the Hart Foundation for WWF tag team gold. The bout was a 2 out of 3 falls contest and was filmed for an upcoming edition of Saturday Night€™s Main Event. While everything began smoothly, there was soon trouble. The top rope broke midway through the match, causing the rest of the bout to suffer. The two teams worked through the situation as best they could, but they seemed unable to get back on track following the mishap. Ultimately, The Rockers won the match and became the new WWF World Tag Team Champions. The duo would even go on to defend the straps in the weeks following the Main Event taping. However, it was decided by Federation management that the match would be cut from the television broadcast, thus nullifying the victory. The belts were returned to the Hart Foundation, and the championship victory was ignored.
