10 Unrecognised Wrestling Championship Reigns

9. The Fabulous Rougeaus - WWE Tag Team Champions

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzGQ1o4P4Hw The Rockers aren€™t the only tag team to have their WWF World Tag Team Championship reign go unrecognized. A similar fate was suffered by the Fabulous Rougeaus in 1987. Curiously, the Rougeaus Brothers also defeated the Hart Foundation -- Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart -- to capture the gold. On August 10th of that year, the Rougeaus did battle with the Hart Foundation inside Quebec€™s Montreal Forum. Jacques and Raymond had the home court advantage, so to speak, as they were surrounded by their French-Canadian compatriots. Jimmy Hart, the Foundation€™s manager, did all he could to make sure that his team walked out victorious. At the end of the contest, €œThe Mouth of the South€ tossed his signature megaphone into the ring, but it was intercepted by Quebec duo. The Rougeaus took a page out of the Hart Foundation€™s book, using the megaphone as a weapon to enable them to pick up the victory. The Montreal crowd erupted as their hometown heroes had won the WWF World Tag Team titles. Jacques and Raymond were officially announced as the new champions and celebrated in the ring. That ecstatic feeling would be short lived, however. Only days later, the Federation stripped the Rougeaus of the belts, citing their use of an illegal foreign object, and restored them to their rightful owners, €œThe Hitman€ and €œThe Anvil.€ The Rougeaus brief championship reign was never acknowledged on WWF television and has been erased from the official Tag Team Championship history.
