After Full Gear 2019, AEW booked a segment designed to transition between Cody's rivals and plant seeds of recognition between them for future use. It really is the long-term storytelling promotion.

It was memorable for a fantastic gag; when first teasing that MJF would one day join the Inner Circle, both men discussed their similarities. It was almost like, Chris Jericho said, that MJF's parents got horny after watching him beat Juventud Guerrera on WCW Saturday Night and 25 years later, MJF's "little twerp ass" popped out. 18 months later, after MJF revealed that he had only joined the Inner Circle to fracture it from within, he made Jericho undertake a series of matches before agreeing to the blow-off. One opponent was Juventud Guerrera.

It really is the long-term storytelling promotion.

AEW is the long-term storytelling promotion, the stylistic range promotion, the unscripted promo promotion.

But.

This otherwise fabulous exchange, the vast majority of which was penned by two mic masters, was in part scripted by a WWE creative writer. Jericho needed a joke to get it all the way over, and made a call to former writer Brian Gewirtz.

On the most technical basis possible, an AEW Dynamite segment was scripted by a WWE creative writer.
