10 Untouchable WWE Stars Who Got Special Treatment

1. Shawn Michaels

Pop quiz time: Who else other than swaggering Shawn Michaels could’ve walked out on Vince McMahon in 1994 and held up the Intercontinental Title as he did it? HBK did exactly that, and his hasty departure forced the company to create a new belt for Razor Ramon. Then, when Shawn was good and ready to launch a comeback, the WWF put him in a featured ladder match at WrestleMania X.

Being fair, they didn’t go so far as to give Michaels the win. That would’ve been ridiculous given his histrionics, and it would've set a rather poor example to everyone else on the roster. 'Hey, if you don't agree with a drug test result and the punishment that comes with it, then just vanish and we'll book you in a marquee bout upon your return'. Yeah, can't see that being the message the WWF wanted to send, but Shawn was Shawn.

He was already one of Vince's golden boys, so Michaels got away with things other wrestlers would've been shipped off kicking and screaming to WCW for. Sorry, but you're destined to become a member of the Dungeon Of Doom. That sort of thing. The fed wasn't going to discard HBK, so they gave him preferential treatment and eagerly waited on his comeback to TV.

Keep in mind that Shawn wasn't 'Mr. WrestleMania' or even WWF Title material at this point in time. He was a midcard star. An excellent one, sure, but not the top guy just yet. He was treated like one anyway, 'cause McMahon and lieutenants didn't want to risk losing him to the competition.
