10 Untouchable WWE Stars Who Got Special Treatment

8. Hulk Hogan

Two things can be true at once. Hulk Hogan is a ridiculous human being who tells tall tales aplenty and has some regrettable moments in his past. Hulk Hogan is also still one of the most iconic stars of his era. Without him, it's difficult to see how Vince McMahon's WWF could've exploded into the 'Saturday morning cartoon come to life' it became. Hogan was vitally important to that culture shift.

By 1993, he'd returned following a few on/off part time stints here or there and a failed full time move into acting. At WrestleMania, pure workhorse pro wrestler Bret Hart was aghast when Hulk raced back into view and casually shunted him aside in the WWF Title picture. Hogan fancied being on top again, and Vince McMahon was only too happy to try Hulkamania on for size again.

After all, his federation badly needed a hit in '93. The bloom was off the rose and the 80s boom period was very much over. Seeking the chance to go back to what had worked before, McMahon hitched his wagon to Hogan and hoped things would pan out like they did between 1984-1990(ish). Unfortunately for them, Bret would get the last laugh when Hulkamania 2.0 fizzled out in front of a smaller hardcore audience who craved something new.

Still, only Hulk could've returned in time for 'Mania and stolen his way into the title picture so suddenly. Vince certainly wasn't going to stand in big Terry's way - if Hogan wanted to be champ, then he'd make it happen. That, at least temporarily, crapped on Bret's main event dreams.

Previously unstoppable monster Yokozuna was sacrificed for the almighty red and yellow too.
