I'll take a closer look at referees later on in the piece, but for now I want to talk about tag team wrestling. This is when two teams face-off, although if you didn't know that already I'd be a little confused as to why you are reading this article on this website. Still, to enter the ring one must tag their partner in plain sight of the referee.

Years ago, pretty much all tag team matches followed the same patter. The good guys start off strongly, but those dastardly heels often gain the upper hand through cheating. After much effort, the good guy in distress will finally make it to his partner, tagging him in and getting himself some respite in the process.

Except the referee won't see it, and will force the fresh partner back to the outside. Of course, while this is happening the heels will switch places without a tag, something that the referee will allow with no questions asked.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
