4. The Marine 5: Battleground

Somehow, WWE Studios have thrown together five Marine films in the past ten years. The original 2006 flick (starring John Cena) actually did relatively well, grossing $22 million in the box office, but subsequent films were given the straight-to-DVD treatment. The fifth installment has entered post-production, and should be released sometime next year.

Details are a little sketchy at the moment, but WWE Studios have provided the following promotional blurb:-

While working as an EMT back stateside Jake Carter after responding to a distress call, finds himself caught up protecting a person of interest from a biker gang ruthlessly hunting them down.

The Miz will continue in his role as Sgt. Jake Carter, but he isn’t the only wrestler involved with The Marine 5. His wife Maryse, Naomi, Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, and Curtis Axel, also feature, and the Social Outcasts reuniting as Battleground’s “ruthless biker gang” remains a possibility.

There isn’t a trailer yet, but there’s no doubt we’ll be hearing about this over and over on SmackDown as soon as a release date is announced. After all, where would The Miz be without a healthy dose of self-promotion?
