Admittedly, this one probably isn't going to win any awards for the quality of its acting. In fact, with co-stars including Sylvester Stallone and 50 Cent, Batista might well be the project's most accomplished thespian.

That's an unfair metric by which to judge it though. The creators of Escape Plan aren't trying to produce the next Citizen Kane. They just want to make a cool action thriller that appeals to teenage boys, which is exactly what they accomplished with the first instalment five years ago.

Batista's role in this flick appears to be as a like-for-like replacement for Arnold Schwarzenegger, who starred in the original but won't be returning for the second.

That seems like a fair trade too. They both look like they were created in a laboratory, and they've both spent time beating up Triple H. Arnie has more of a screen presence, granted, but can he land a sit-down powerbomb like The Animal?
