10 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Dynamite: New Year's Smash (Jan 13)

5. Best Friends, Better Brothers

Last week's Bullet Club "reunion" wasn't what it may have seemed like coming out of last week's big angle, when Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows invaded AEW to join forces with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.

The advertised "Elite" trios match became Kenny, Anderson, and Gallows vs. the Varsity Blondes and Danny Limelight when Don Callis pulled the switcheroo, introducing Omega's "real best friends," the Good Brothers. The Bucks were baffled. They watched on from backstage as the Best Bout Brothers ran through their overmatched opponent, allowed Limelight and the Varsities a few moments to shine before extinguishing their comebacks, a Magic Killer ending Danny's night.

The Bucks only hit the scene to split-up the chaotic post-match brawl that erupted when Jon Moxley hit the ring, then the Lucha Brothers, then more. Omega and Callis? They fled in the confusion, evading both Moxley and The Bucks, who now have some big questions to ask.

Screwing his former "best friends" over like this is being done to present Omega as an even bigger d*ckhead than he already is. The Good Brothers are scumbag beneficiaries in all of this, and while wrestling fandom was rubbing its collective hands together at the prospect of a version of Bullet Club in AEW, the latest development offers more interesting pairings and rivalries.
