10 Ups & 1 Down From IMPACT Wrestling Victory Road 2021
Cage vs. Alexander announced, Morrissey goes a step too far, Laredo Kid soars to a win, and more!
Victory Road was treated as a fully-fledged pay-per-view by IMPACT Wrestling.
The Anthem-helmed promotion has seemingly made this part of their plan for 2021, as the monthly specials have always had some sort of incentive for watching. No Surrender in March, for example, had New Japan's FinJuice capture the World Tag Team Titles. Because IMPACT's shows were still behind closed doors at this point, word hadn't leaked regarding the shock title change, driving more viewers to IMPACT Plus.
For Victory Road, the incentive to watch live was a stacked card capped off by a World Title match between Christian Cage and Ace Austin, but the incentive to now go back and watch the event is for Cage's post-match confrontation with Josh Alexander. The now-former (?) X Division Champion has cashed the title in via Option C to challenge the 'Instant Classic' at Bound For Glory on 23 October, officially confirmed with a graphic on Twitter. It'll be a certified banger.
Elsewhere on the show, W. Morrissey got one over on Eddie Edwards, Laredo Kid emerged victorious in a ridiculous five-man scramble, Matt Cardona and Rohit Raju had a lovely no disqualifications match, and the Good Brothers retained the World Tag Team Titles in a high-level match with Rich Swann and Willie Mack.
Let's get to it...
