10 Ups & 1 Down From IMPACT Wrestling Victory Road 2021

4. This Match

An unannounced five-way bout saw John Skyler, Laredo Kid, Black Taurus, Jake Something, and Trey Miguel deliver one of IMPACT's greatest matches of 2021.

The match was transcendent. A literal can't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it match, it combined cruiserweight wrestling with technical wrestling and power wrestling, creating this blend that was unlike anything else in the Anthem-helmed promotion this year. One minute, Trey Miguel was flipping over the top rope with a superlative Tope con Hilo, and the next, Jake Something was using his beefy body frame to pounce onto three other competitors at once. Though there are a number of ways to look at this match, it felt like the former Cousin Jake was reverting to the Jake that almost defeated Moose earlier in 2021.

It was Laredo Kid who finally became the winner, pinning John Skyler off a Spanish Fly, but no one left this match looking weak. That IMPACT was able to produce a multi-man contest where all competitors left looking like a winner is a testament to the quality of their work this year. They take the scramble match and elevate it with every usage, giving the matches a meaning as opposed to them being just a random match on a card.
