Somehow, Finn Bálor and Pete Dunne had to try and follow everything that had come before. Their biggest supporters probably aren't surprised to hear that they managed it - they constructed an epic headliner that closed out TakeOver with those familiar NXT thrills, spills and near falls aplenty. This was drama overload.

Both looked exhausted by the end, and no wonder. They produced a modern-day classic, one punctuated by Finn's match-winning 1916. Just like the Grizzled Young Veterans earlier though, Dunne was elevated in defeat and showed he belongs at the top of WWE cards from now on.

It's the sign of a wonderful match when even the loser comes out with momentum. Dunne did, but NXT's creative forces weren't finished there. They weren't satisfied with booking some handshake moment between champ and challenger before the cams faded to black...
