10 Ups & 1 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Sept 4)

5. Charlotte & Becky Trade Barbs

Badass anti-hero babyface Becky Lynch and entitled, whiny Women's Champion Charlotte Flair were back at it again this time, engaging in a pre-taped interview segment that furthered the idea that WWE are no longer forcing 'The Lass Kicker' into an ill-suited heel role.

The narrative was that Becky and Charlotte have become so heated that they need to be kept apart. Speaking from different rooms, they shot barbs back and forth, with Flair's entitlement shining through as she claimed winning the belt was no more than her "taking an opportunity." This, of course, prompted Becky to clap back, stating that she'd always had to "prop up 'The Queen,'" but would leave Hell in a Cell with the championship, no matter how many times she has to drop Charlotte.

Segments like this always come off well, even if this one could have done with a little more time. Lynch's part felt particularly rushed, though her delivery, body language, and mannerisms were spot on. The feud needed a format change, too, as WWE can only pull off so many ambushes and brawls before running out of steam.
