10 Ups & 12 Downs For WWE In 2020 (So Far)

6. Mandy & Otis

It's rare to see a storyline as genuinely sweet and endearing as Otis and Mandy Rose's romance in WWE. This is part of why it stands out so much, as does the care and effort put into every story beat, as well as the writers adeptness at incorporating multiple secondary characters without things getting bloated.

Once Dolph Ziggler and Sonya Deville's treachery was exposed, Mandy and Otis' WrestleMania coming together was a cathartic moment. Otis thwarted the bad guy and got the girl in the process. It's simple, soapy stuff, but it has resonated with the fanbase and gotten both protagonists over, with Otis holding the Money in the Bank briefcase and Rose more established than ever before, finally positioned to make inroads towards Women's Title contention.

Deville has benefitted immensely too, shining in her vicious heel role. She and Mandy should eventually get their pay-per-view blow-off, after which both can claim the rankings, while the Universal Championship may be in Otis' future.

He'd be an unconventional champion, sure, but would he even be in this position without the Mandy storyline? Definitely not.
