10 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 24)

8. Sonny Kiss & Joey Janela Level Up

It was good to see Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss finally wrestling on Dynamite this week, as their bout with Colt Cabana and Brodie Lee was preceded by another video package. This time, they got into a fight with a bunch of dudes at a gas station after another soul-searching journey, strengthening their bond.

The match itself was about two things:-

1. Telling the Colt Cabana/Dark Order story.

2. Getting Janela and Kiss over to a new level.

It succeeded on both counts. The Cabana stuff was handled well, with Colt working a little nastier than usual, eventually scoring the pinfall when Lee nailed his discus lariat and stepped aside for his charge to score the W. Kiss and Janela? They ruled. This was an exciting, high-effort performance carried by fluidity and the pop-pop-pop of their tandem offense, further highlighting them as a tandem to watch.

Lance Archer's post-match assault followed on from a recent Dark angle in which 'The Murderhawk Monster' teased attacking Janela and Kiss. He laid both out here, leading to him being booked in a singles match with 'The Bad Boy' for Fyter Fest.
