10 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (30 Sep)

Downs...

2. Another Title, Just Because

IMPACT Digital Media Championship
IMPACT Wrestling

The introduction of the Digital Media Title is odd.

IMPACT doesn't require another championship, especially not one that feels as if it'll be treated with the same respect as the WWE 24/7 Title. Judging by the video package to announce the title's inception, it feels very much like it'll be strictly for the lower to mid-card talent, plus some semi-top names like Jordynne Grace.

For example, the first tournament matches confirmed will see John Skyler vs. Zicky Dice, and Hernandez vs. Crazzy Steve. It's too early for either Skyler or Dice to be deemed an IMPACT champion, Hernandez should never strike big in IMPACT again, and Steve is better suited as a World Tag Team Champion alongside Black Taurus.

It's important to note that the title is a tremendous idea, as it'll seemingly be defended exclusively on IMPACT's digital media outlets, hence the name. The tournament will originally air via IMPACT Plus and YouTube for the Ultimate Insiders, so it makes sense given their presence on these sites.

It simply feels very much like they're introducing a championship just for the sake of it. They're venturing down the risky WWE avenue in doing so.
