10 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Aug 9)

1. Prince Proves Himself

Last week, Aiden Prince surprised everyone when he came out on top in a six way match to decide the first challenger to Jake Crist's X Division Championship. Even though he's a fairly decent wrestler from what we've seen of him thus far, he had never been positioned in such a high spot before. After what we saw in the title match itself though, it's clear he was the right challenger.

The match, which opened the show in fantastic fashion, was a back and forth battle for the most part, with quite a few near falls. Aiden very nearly became the new champion after nailing a picture-perfect 450 splash, but it was only good enough for a two count. Eventually, the oVe member would cling on to the X division crown after catching Prince mid-flight with a wonderful Crist Cutter.

Even in defeat, Aiden Prince has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of here. He showed all the naysayers (this writer included) that he does indeed have what it takes to be a major player within the X division. While Jake Crist may be a fine champion for the time being, it's highly possible right now that Aiden Prince could win the title in the very near future.
