10 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (20 May)

4. Ellering Outwrestles Grace

Tag team partners with friction following a marquee loss battling one another is such a simple concept in professional wrestling. It’s difficult to land, though, as they can often have outcomes that are visible weeks in advance.

Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering pulled it off, though.

Their match was great. A superb technical affair were neither former Knockouts Tag Team Champion could gain an advantage for too long. That shared technical prowess soon turned to a game of power and intensity; Ellering showed this with some added oomph on her Senton, while Grace was a tad more aggressive with her corner back elbow. A missed Vader Bomb led to an exchange of rollups, which Rachael won to also win the bout.

Some solid chain wrestling in this that made for an enjoyable viewing experience. It seems to be Jordynne whose going to turn heel at some point, given that her post-match hug didn’t seem heartfelt and the fact she left Rachael on her own. It seems only apt, given she’s been a babyface her entire IMPACT career. A change of pace never hurt anyone. Build the right story with Rachael, and a banger of a Slammiversary stipulation match will easily be on the table.
