10 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Oct 4)

Downs...

4. Just Keep Swinging'

After weeks of vignettes, Johnny Swinger made his long-awaited Impact debut, and everything about it was a scar to the eyes. The 1980s enthusiast came storming to the ring, complete with a fanny pack, a fetching pair of zebra-print tights, and what looked like a whole bottle of body oil. Don Callis was all over him on commentary - Josh Mathews on the other hand played the role of every single person watching the show, failing to find the joy in Swinger.

The former ECW star battled enhancement talent Owen Traverse here, dominating almost the entirety of the match as you'd expect. Thankfully, it was short and sweet, ending when Swinger landed a swinging neckbreaker that Callis referred to as a 'high-impact manoeuvre'.

What does Swinger bring to the table in 2019? Next to nothing, to be quite honest. Let's just hope he isn't used in a prominent role. These squash matches are fine when they're not against actual Impact stars - keep it that way. Please.
