10 Ups & 6 Downs For WWE In 2023 (So Far)

9. Hell In A Cell Done Right

Cheers could be heard from all corners of the wrestling map when news spread that Triple H planned to scrap Hell In A Cell as an annual pay-per-view. Instead, WWE would bust out the famous cage when needed, and that's exactly what they ended up doing for Edge's blowoff with Judgment Day man Finn Bálor at 'Mania.

It was glorious to see the Cell used properly within the context of a feud that merited it. People had been moaning for a decade plus that HIAC's annual nature forced bouts into the cage without proper context, so it was cracking to see that change. The match could end up being Edge's career swan song too.

Hopefully not, but it'd be some match to go out on.

Regardless, it's difficult to throw stones at Trips for ditching HIAC as a PLE for 2023 and beyond. That plan has already reaped rewards, and it will again when the likes of Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar get locked up come SummerSlam. Cheeky little prediction there!
